When you store some files, manipulate, delete those files, these files stored in some memory location from its original position. These cause fragmentation in your hard disk leads to decrease performance of your computer. To defragment your hard disk you can follow any of these 2 methods:
Method 1:
- Goto My Computer.
- Right-click any disk volume that you want to defragment, click Properties.
- Click Tools tab, click Defragment Now.
- Click Defragment.
Method 2:
- Start Computer Management MMC
- Click Disk Defragmenter.
- Click any disk volume that you want to defragment, click Defragment.
Caution:
Make sure that total free space available in your disk at the time of defragmentation in minimum 15% of total disk size.
